Default 2015 F 150 Halogen to OEM LED Headlight Conversion from Raptor Retrofits w/pictures

This halogen to OEM LED conversion was done by me on my 2015 Lariat with 501A package as I wanted the 2.7 and 40-20-40 seats. This is a 2WD with wheel lip moldings.

I do not work for Ford or Raptor Retrofit-just a forum member with a little mechanical knowledge.

This is not a thread on whether the OEM LED price is justified and not whether how good the light output is. I wanted the look of the LED headlight package.

Tools needed are a good set of 1/4" drive sockets with 7mm, 10mm, 7/32, 5/16 and a good flash light.

I would set a side 2-3 hours for the job. If you can do it in less time and take off less parts-great. The hardest part is getting the headlight assembly back in the headlight opening.

You do not have to remove the grille or front bumper.

Hopefully this will help someone if they desire to change headlights.

1st picture-Raptor Retrofit does a great job packing the lights.

2nd and 3rd-Pictures of front and back of the LED assemblys..

There is no assembly needed of the headlights. The wiring harness Raptor provides fits nicely behind the headlight assembly. No splicing of wires or special mounting is required.

Inner fender removal. You probably don't have to do this but I did and it may help someone change a headlight bulb on a halogen truck.

1st picture-take 2 small hex head screws out.

2nd picture-pull out the push pin at the top.

3rd picture-unscrew twist pin til loose and pull out.

4th picture-take out this 1st fender lip screw to inner fender.

Painted surround removal. Once you do #1 and #2 pictures, gently pull wheel lip molding out of surround. Then start at top of surround and gently pull it away from truck unclipping it from it's fasteners and end up at the wheel well lip and remove from truck. In picture 3 you will see that the 2 clips should have stayed in the wheel lip molding. Slides in by my thumb in picture 4.. It is too hard to reinstall surround with clips in the surround and to line up.

1st picture-remove push plug upper surround.

2nd picture-remove 2 outer wheel lip molding screws.

3rd picture-surround off and clips stayed in surround.

4th picture-one clip slides into the wheel lip molding by my thumb.

Headlight assembly removal-Take the 2 black 10mm bolts out of the top of the headlight assembly.
Picture 1-Take 6-7 10mm silver bolts out at the bottom of the assembly that holds it to the black plastic air duct (above the bumper).

Picture 2 is a partially hidden 10mm silver bolt behind the fender lip.

Picture 3 is a 10mm black screw that requires a long extension that attaches to the radiator support.

Picture 4 Remove all 3 upper fender bolts so you can move the fender out about 3/8" so you can get the headlight out/in. You don't have to mark them as you can align fender back where it was from the paint impression. Anyone that doesn't like the alignment of the hood to fender can easily move the gap in or out by loosening these bolts.

Picture 5 is a pushpin in fender well to air duct.

Picture 6 is is the headlight out and the 3 OEM plugs that you plug Raptor's harness in to.

For me, the headlight was a lot easier to get out than back in as it has to be aligned just right. Trial and error to get it in/out.

I used painters tape around edges to keep from scratching. Also put it on the new light.

Reassemble in reverse order.

Sorry that some of the pictures aren't better or more detail with arrows as I am not that computer literate and I was trying to take pictures and get the job done.

Everything on my truck with the LED's works exactly the same as my halogens.
(DRL's, auto headlights, etc, etc)..(even the seat backs still don't cool).

I am not posting any night time pictures etc as it has been done many times before on this forum if you do a search.

Now I believe my truck looks like a 2015 after seeing all of the press pictures with the LED headlights before the trucks release.

Whether it is worth it is up to each individual.

Hats off to Dawson of Raptor Retrofit for a nice product offering. You will have to direct all price and headlight questions to him. Any install questions and I will try to answer.

Maybe if you learned how forums work you would know he was putting up place holders so he can get the posts up in order without someone commenting in between.
