It almost sounded to me like the driver didn't launch the 5.0 as hard or get all the way into the peddle initially. For the lack of marketing the 5.0 gets I'm surprised they had it at the event. Even at the dealerships I have been to the sales people have tried to steer me towards the ecoboost. They didn't say anything negative about the 5.0 but nothing positive either.

I wish I could find one with an EB here, every one of them sitting on the lot are 5.0 and all the EB are retail orders that they won't let me drive, which I can understand

I hear you, I feel the same about my 13 RCSB 5.0 with 3.55's. I haven't had an Ecoboost pull away from me yet. I drove the 15 Eco's (Screw) and they were slower than mine.

6 speed 5.0 will never run with an EcoBoost even with 3.73. The span between ratios is too much and the naturally aspirated motor exits the powerband with every shift. So every shift the EcoBoost will pull.
10 speed 5.0? Different story, in that case the 5.0 is actually in its peak power curve more often than the EcoBoost since the shift recoveries keep it in upper revs. Both actually have the same 1/4 mile time at the end of the day. Both post 14.4 seconds stock for 2018 4x4s according to Car and Driver. EcoBoost comes out of the hole then the 5.0 reels it in and runs it down fast.
I suppose the EcoBoost can pick up more with a tune, but then you can argue you can supercharge the 5.0 if money isn’t an object. Can’t really go wrong either way.
