That’s what I did. I actually taped mine to the cover for the lows and then to the housing for the highs. There is a nice flat spot right next to the cover.

I have mine just hanging off the back. The silicone I used dries hard as a rock almost so it makes a really tight seal and has no problems supporting the weight of the LED Driver/CANBUS Adapters. I saw a photo once of a guy on here who went all out and made tiny holes for zip ties in his housing and zip tied everything to the back. Real good install. My own... i can see the LED Driver hanging from my fender well (through a little crack)

How important is it really to put the ballast/resistor outside the housing? just got everything in for my install(plan on doing it tomorrow after work) i bought some HIKARI LED Headlight Bulbs Conversion Kit -H7,CREE XHP50 9600lm 6K Cool White. Is it just a precaution to relocate them or is it a serious and known heat issue with them inside the anzo housing?

I asked the same question and got a lot of feedback but figured I'd do it anyhow. I bought the same lights (Hikari) and mounted the ballast outside with 3m 2 sided tape.

a lot of feedback saying you need to put them outside? and did you buy the kit or just drill a hole/slot in the anzo factory caps?(what i might do and seal them of course)

Heat is the issue. Whether it's a ballast or a resistor, they put out a lot of heat which can lead to other issues. It can burn up the diodes on your LED lights.

Thanks for the input guys, guess I'm gonna be drilling out the caps tomorrow, can't wait a week+ for pieces of rubber.

Does anyone else think the high beams suck? Mine really suck, I can drive with them on for hundreds of miles and not a single person will flash me. I had to do this once due to my cree LEDs going out.

Yup, I never use them. I didn't align mine yet though but doubt that'll help.

High beams are.... Worthless. Not sure why everyone is even recommending spending the money on aftermarket LEDs because you won't use them.
