Default 2015 Platinum Fuel Mileage

3.5 Eco Boost engine

I use a fuel mileage program called Road Trip. So at each fuel purchase I enter in the gallons purchased and the current OD setting. After 1,622 miles of which about 40% has been highway I am averaging 17.31 miles per gallon using regular gasoline... IE not premium.

This compares to my previous 2011 F150 Platinum's average of 16.44 miles per gallon over 61,984 miles.... This had the eEco boost engine as well

I expected better right out of the block, but as the engine breaks in we shall see. Note that the 2015 miles hs been with weather conditions of -3 degrees to 35 degrees... Cold weather does impact fuel mileage... So I would expect an increase as we approach the summer months....

Note that I had a 2009 F150 with the small V8 and averaged 14.97 MPG over the 18,350 miles that I had used the Road Trip program iPhone app with it....

I used to get 19 on my 5.0 4x4 plat, but after about 5000 miles I decided to enjoy it and now I get 15.5. These guys MPG will prob go down once the newness wares off. I hope not, but that is my theory.

The key to good mpg is keep the speed at or below 65, try to use brakes as little as possible and accelerate easy (stay out of boost).

I do hope the new Ecoboost being lighter will see pretty good real world increase in mpg, but the verdict is still out.

This was taken yesterday, 1/13/2015, after filling up my 2nd full tank. This represents my first full tank with about 75% highway miles. 3.5 EcoBoost, 4x4, SuperCrew Lariat. Fuel: 87 Octane Reg Unleaded, Chevron.

My 2015 must have a broken 3.5 EB. I'm at 430 miles and getting 14.8 and I'm not even on it yet. Is ther a way to switch between different modes. Someone mentioned they are in sport mode.
