2015+ AC blowing colder than 2009 - 2014?

I've long followed the "How I made my AC blow a little colder" thread because my 2013 didn't blow as cold as I felt it should. I lived with it, but was never 100% pleased.

Now I'm in the market for a 2017 and wondered how the new series are blowing? Are people in hot climates generally happy with the performance?

Thx,

I live in Houston and have a 16 screw with pano roof. So far with high 80s and low 90s the truck blows very cold. Definitely an improvement over all previous generations that I've ever owned.

My '15's air is excellent no matter how hot it gets or sitting in traffic it will stay nice and cold. I know what you mean on the previous generation since I have an '06 and it took me 10 years to get it finally working right, mainly putting in an after market fan clutch and a new orifice valve and closing up the gap between the condenser and radiator to pull all of the air through the condenser and not around it and then running a bit overcharge on freon. No complaints at all on the '15

Have been through two summers where we average 100+ for at least 2 - 3 of the months. Works extremely well. After sitting out all day I'm sure the interior is around 140+.

Cools down very quickly. Not sure it could be any better.

I had a 2012 and now have a 2015 and the a/c is much better. I wasn't very impressed with the '12 in that department but the new truck is too cold at times.

I got rid of my 14 because the AC was useless. My 16 has fantastic AC. That was the first thing I checked when I bought it.

Mine is great. Temperature has been in the upper 80's and a few days at 90 and it does great.

I do notice something odd about the refrigerant capacity. The owner's manual says capacity is 1.5 lbs but the label under the hood says 1.9 lbs. Perhaps Ford increase capacity at the last minute after the book was printed for better cooling.

Pretty much spot on. When I test drove my 2016 I immediately noticed the AC was much cooler than my 2014 STX that I traded in. Besides the AC my 2016 has been an all around better truck except for the monthly payment

If only the cooled seats worked that well! lol

I had a 2013 and it sucked. I tried every trick to make it work better. My 2016 will freeze you out of the cab! Cooled seats not as good as others have stated.

Been getting hot here in OK, high 80's. I have been thinking that my new 15 King Ranch should be colder than it is but havent started searching the forums to diagnose yet...

I have not owned any older f150's, but my 17 2.7 AC's was blowing ice cold in 103 degree heat.

It took it about 5 minutes to cool the interior down after sitting in the hot sun for a couple of hours, but after that I had to turn of max AC as it was getting too cold in the cab.

At first my 16 KR was Ice cold. Now as the temps down here are high again, it's still pretty damn good but I am having an issue. When new it only did this at most once a day. Now many times a day while driving the air coming out of the vents suddenly gets warm, then gets cold again. Need to get that checked out.

I sure hope so! I've got a '14 XLT right now and I swear I can run it on at least 3/4 fan speed max A/C for 30 minutes on a 95 degree day here in NC before I have to turn it down.

Hoping my '17 XLT that's on the way is better in that regard
