2015 5.0 stalled in driveway, cranks no start
Hello everyone -
Very tidy forum here, thanks for being a part of it.
I've got a 2015 xlt 5.0. A few months ago I went to warm it up in the driveway before work and it stalled out. Then it would go through its crank cycle but wouldn't fire. I had it towed to the dealer and the symptom didn't present. They diagnosed a low battery (probably from me cranking it over seven or eight times) and found it to be fully operational.
Hasn't happened again until today. Started it up at 4:30 am on my way to work, fired right up but before I had a chance to run in the house for my lunch it stalled out as though no gas. Engine goes through its cranking cycle, but won't fire.
I barely had enough time to check fuses, tried the other key, and tried remote start. In all cases crank no fire. I'll have it towed to the dealer tonight, but does anyone have any guesses?
Thanks
Dan
I should ad no codes were give at the dealer and there is no check engine light.

Shoooooot. This describes the condition the vehicle is in, nose down a steep driveway with about two gallons of gas in the tank.
I recall last time the amount of gas wasn't a concern, it might of had a half tank or more. Still, i'm somewhat ashamed to admit this is probably the case. I will follow up with what the dealer says.
I wouldn't of thought a vehicle made in this century would struggle with the same design flaw my great grandmother's Buick did. (used to stall on Grapevine Hill because the fuel pickup was at the front of the tank)

yeaaaa still a problem. Ford is one of the worst offenders at this particular scenario too. As a general rule, its best to keep all vehicles over 1/4 tank but I realize nobody (including me) does that regularly. I try to but things happen. Also, remote start wont work if its low on gas so if you ever try to remote start it and it seems like it half way starts and dies... thats why. It also wont remote start in valet mode, but I dont think anyone does that.

This same thing happened to me about a two weeks ago. I freaked because the I'd owned the truck for only 3 weeks. I noticed that in the midst of the truck not starting the remaining range went from 65 miles to 12 miles. That got me thinking something with the fuel system. I put the 2.5 gallons of gas I had in my gas can for my mower, and the truck cranked right up. I immediately drove to the gas station, and sure enough, on the way there the range changed back to 72 miles.
As described, I park my truck in a nose-down pitch on my inclined driveway. Lesson learned... low on gas, park on a level surface.

I had a lawn mower I bought brand new. I always had problems with it not running correct at times. It turns out it had a shallow gas tank and it was black. It would look like it had gas in it but it really had hardly any in it. The place charged me like $30 for the privelage of learning that information.
So it was without a doubt low fuel/incline. The only interesting piece to share is that the cranking/no fire condition caused the traction control and hill decent features to malfunction. The service guy told me if the computer detects a stall it will sometimes disengage the traction control for some reason. Whatever the codes were they went away after about five minutes of driving.
