Default 2015 to 2018 - Seriously Thinking

I am seriously debating trading in or selling my 2015 XLTSCREW when the 2018s arrive. Looking at the Lariat or Platinum. At the time of 2015 purchase, I wanted the nav, push button start, blis, etc but did want to pay for it. so I went for the XLT just about fully loaded and it fit the bill. But now, I see what I am missing everytime I look at those dang beautiful LED head and tail lights.

Anyone else in the same boat, looking to trade in and up when the 2018s come out?

Considering the depreciation hit you're going to take, you could spend quite a bit on that 2015 and come out money ahead. I already had the LED tails (Lariat 501A package) but added the Anzo headlights with switchbacks and LED bulbs... I'm satisfied with the output, and the lights look just enough different from stock that people ask about them - without being ricey.

Well, financially you're going to take a hit. No way around that.

Depending on what options you want, you're not going to be able to add them to your XLT without some very expensive and involved work.

I'm glad I went 502A Lariat right from the get go. When I was shopping, Lariat 502A was my very bottom level I would go. I do have to add some stuff I want (IE: LKA, ACC and PA because it pretty much is just sensors after adding LKA) but I would have bought that in my lariat too if I could have found one. Mine has literally everything you can get in the Lariat except the Technology package.

Sometimes, it's cheaper in the long run to just pony up and get what you want the first time around....

The new shiny thing is always appealing, but there will always be a new shiny thing. Happiness comes from appreciating what you have, not chasing the latest shiny.

All very wise words.
I am more than happy with my current 2015. It was my first truck and until then, I never did truck things. Now, two + years on, I own property in the country and have a need to do truck things all the time. I need a longer bed, that is the need.
The other stuff is a want. Figured if I am going for the longer bed, may as well do it one more time and done. Sure, I could go trailer but I don't have a place to keep it currently.
Either way. we will see how this pans out.

I feel the same way. I have '15 302a xlt. I wish I had been a member of the forum before I made my purchase and a little more knowledgeable. I'd really like to upgrade to a 502a with the pano roof, but they only want to give my 30k for my xlt. The damn think only has 3400 miles on it. I'm probably just going to keep it. I can't see trading my truck and paying 20-23k for a new 17', more for an 18' of course.

I leased my 15 XL. So in 18 I will be ready to get a new one. I want a higher level trim but not all the gadgets like BLS, Rear Video, parking assist or Nav. I want a radio with six buttons that I can program not 27. I want a very untech truck with the looks and interior of a platinum. I was taught how to drive using mirrors and my eyes. I don't need sat radio nor a 6 disk cd changer, mp3, 400 gig HDD etc. If you look at most of the complaints about these trucks I bet the Tech stuff is the highest hitting. I need a truck not an electronics night mare.

So yes I will be trading in my lowly XL and moving up to a Lariat or Platinum maybe even a Raptor. I will have to order it because all the ones I see on the lots have a bunch of tech stuff ready to break.

this! You will never be able to keep up with the new. In 2022 they will be something else new. I go by the though of, if I've never had it then I don't know what I'm missing. Unfortunately my 302a package has a lot of thing I've never had and now there is no going back.
