Default 2015 and 2016 F-150 problems ????

New guy here. Does the 2015, F-150 have any recurring design or maintenance problems that drive the owner nuts. Not talking about one time things, but problems effecting a wide range of owners?

Same question pertaining to the 2016 models. Also, anything new on the 2016 models that hasn't existed in past years, this is the first year for it?

Dan.

The non-cooling cooled seats drives me nuts. Sounds like the TSB has had marginal (at best) results in fixing the issue.

I have not seen anybody else post this however I am getting a whistling wind noise in the cabin coming from the front windshield. I have not had it checked out yet (just scheduled my first maintenance visit)....and no, it is not noise from the turbos.

I will not be towing, nor will I need 4X4. Want a V8 engine. Just need a good reliable pickup to haul household things around and make some long trips a couple of times a year. I live in Florida so need a good A/C and engine/tranny cooling system. If you guys could help me with the pros & cons on the
F-150 models I F-150 models I
would appreciate it. Regards, Dan.

Type in sway bar or towing (or towing problems) and read through those. A few others one are the glass roofs leaking and adaptive cruise control (which is currently being fixed).

Outside of that, and the non-cooled cooled seats, the rest of the issues seem to be one-time things.

The A/C in the 15's seems to be much improved over the previous generation.

You can see I have it set at 72 inside when it's 116 outside. A/C works very well.

That temperature (and then some) reminds me of Iraq, except there was no A/C.

There are a few big threads on the common issues for the 2015s, but they basically come down to:

A/C Seats as already mentioned
5th to 4th downshift thunk
Adaptive Cruise Control Misreads

I may be missing a few but those are the ones that I can say have been seen by a significant enough number of people for it to be an engineering issue and not just a fit/finish or one-off issue.

The towing thing someone else mentioned shouldn't be focused on. There is another very recent thread where someone was freaked out about it because 3 or so people mentioned issues and an overwhelming number of people responded that they tow everything from a couple thousand pounds up to near the max tow rating of the truck frequently without issues.

The 2016s are just now being built and shipped, so there aren't any out there to any amount to allow anyone to give feedback, but since there are TSBs for every common issue I mentioned, you can be pretty sure they are resolved in the 2016s.

I know you said you wanted a V8. I was in the same boat as you, no 6 cyl for me. I had owned an 04 and an 08 with the 5.4. I now have a 3.5 Eco and I love it. It is faster, has more pulling power and gets better fuel mileage than my previous trucks. I forget it is a 6 cyl. I raced my son's 10 Ram hemi and beat him by about 1/8 fender. Not bad for a 6 banger .

There are folks complaining about the honking horn "feature" when you exit the truck with the engine still or the keys still in it or something like that. But it's not a defect, it's intentional. Something to do with preventing CO2 poisoning.

I've had mine for 3 months. No issues or complaints.
