Default 2015 2.7L Oil Filter Housing stuck

I have 2015 F150 2.7. Went to teach my son how to do an oil change and got the drain plug out, all the oil drained and then went to take the oil filter out and could not get the housing undone. It seems like it was torqued down too hard by the dealer (who did the last oil change). I used a 27mm/1 1/16" socket and tried to loosen it but it only rounded off the nut on the top of the filter cover so I stopped because I did not want to ruin the housing. Also tried adjustable pliers with no luck. Any suggestions on how to get that thing off? Any help would be appreciated!

Channel locks, and maybe get one of those cans of compressed air. Hold the can upside down and it’ll spray out super cold, that may shrink the plastic enough to help loosen it.

Yeah dont do what I said, somehow I missed the part where it said 2.7 two times. Sorry about that. Can prob YouTube what to do, chances are you aren't the first person who has had this issue.

Are you trying to turn the housing counterclock wise which is the correct direction

A strap wrench might be able to give you enough extra grip to get it. I have, in the past, been known to put a sheet of sandpaper inside the strap for a little more grip.

Buy another housing, and o ring if there is one. Then use a strap wrench close to the base of the housing (threads). If all fails, you could crack the housing but that would be ugly. I put money on it coming off with a strap wrench and some smooth force. Good luck!

If it is rounded off try the next size down socket or use the next size down metric socket whichever is a closer fit. Gently tap it on with a rubber hammer until fully/tightly/level seated. Then use a long breaker bar and turn counter-clockwise. If really badly rounded...order a replacement housing to put back on before you start.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am turning it counterclockwise. I am going to try to a try strap wrench after I order another housing just to be on the safe side and give me a better connection on the plastic nut.
