2015 2.7 ecoboost start/stop feature not working
#23
So took my truck to the dealership this morning. They ran some tests and turns out they needed to do a BMS reset as well.
I asked them what caused the BMS reset to be needed and they seemed unsure, mentioned some stuff about if the battery runs too low it messes with the sensors.
I did leave it for around a month this winter without driving it. After starting it back up was when the auto start stop started having problems. The fact that the auto start stop would work and then not work back and forth makes it seem that theres a defect in the design.
WHen asked how to prevent this in the future when i'm away on travel, the service guy said to have someone turn on the engine every other day for 5 minutes, which i thought was comical.

Recommend getting a battery maintainer (AGM compatible) if planning on not driving the truck for a period of time.

This thread brings up a point. On newer vehicles, particularly last 10 years or so, a bad battery can cause all kinds of weird issues, even ones that don't seem electronically related. It's a good idea to check that when you are having almost any problem, other than the absolutely obvious.
