Default 2012 XLT Productivity LCD Screen

The productivity screen on my 2012 F150 XLT will display data about every fourth time I start the truck, when it is not working it displays the clouds you see at start up. If the LCD screen is displaying data when the truck starts, it will stay lit until it is turned off. If the LCD screen is not displaying data (only clouds), it will do so until it is turned off.

Analysis:
- I know the LCD is good, because about every 4th time the truck is started it displays all data as it should, and if it is not displaying data, the clouds are displayed.
- I know it is not a loose connection, otherwise the performance (display or no display) would change during driving due to vibrations.

What would cause this, and how do I fix it?

Is it possible that you have an aftermarket head unit?

Also, you posted in the 2015+ section.
