This certainly qualifies as a solid top 5 ignorant post.....

2018 F150, 2.7 Ecoboost - 3.55 rear
19.4 MPG after the 2nd fill up. I drive like Grandpaw. I leave the auto engine stop on half the time. So far everything is perfect 988 miles. I did stomp on it once to 100. Much faster than the Ford police cruiser I drove the night Lady Diana died.

Have a loaner 2019 2.7L Screw 4x4 XLT, no idea on the rear. It had around 800 miles on it when I got it and I'm somewhere are 2400 miles on it now. LOM is reading between 19.5 - 20 mpg and actual seems to be about 18.5 - 19 mpg. Not bad considering my 3.5EB is getting 15-16 mpg actual on the same exact commute..

One thing I've noticed with the 2.7L is if it doesn't come up to temperature the mileage will not be good. If I make a lot of short store runs I will see 15 - 16 mpg. Do enough of these and even a long trip won't recover the lost fuel economy for that tank. If it gets up to full operating temperature with my normal suburban/urban driving I get over 20 mpg (usually around 22). This is a lot different than my old B3000 3.0L or Explorer 4.0 where the mileage was pretty much 17 - 19 mpg regardless of engine temps.

Absolutely. Transmission takes awhile to warm up and, more than the engine. My short trips to work on cold mornings give me about 18. But most long runs gice me 20 or so. All hwy I have seen 26, cruise on 75. Cold weather definitely hurts the mpg.

My 2018 2.7 screw 4X2 is getting just shy of 24mpg. It has an easy life - 70 mile RT to work cruising at 60-65. The dash computer usually shows me getting 25mpg or a little better; so it's roughly exaggerated by @1.5mpg. I've also gotten the range before empty down to 0, and the fill-up took about 24 gal. So it shows 0, but in reality I have nearly 100miles to go before running it dry. You'd think a computer would nail it, but I guess they have it programmed for both optimism and stupidity on behalf of the operator.

My last vehicle was a 4X2 Tacoma with a 2.7L 4 cyl and manual transmission. Interestingly, the window stickers for both showed 20 city 26 highway. My F150 is just a bit better than the taco was, so I'm very satisfied that fuel economy is as advertised. It's amazing to me that the EB 2.7 can produce just about double the HP and torque as my old taco with the same displacement, and return as good or slightly better fuel economy.

That's why I'm not driving a taco anymore.
