I get 16.5mpg at 70 at very best running e10/gas. If I run ethanol free fuel, i can get about 3mpg better. I isn't worth the premium though. I did not have high expectations for this truck and the advertised mpg.

I have always said the 2.7TT, although shows comparable power to the 5.0, is just not enough engine for the SuperCrew, hence the bad MPG's.

2018 XL Scab 2.7. I took a 150mile round trip on the interstate today and truck said 20.9MPG average. I had the cruise set to 77MPH but I do remember hitting about 85MPH at one point.

So about 18 actual. My 3.5TT does 18.5 actual at 70 mph.

I assume here the 2011 was also lifted with big tires. And as such I would expect you to take a MPG hit for that.

SO were you in tow mode, were you towing anything or hauling anything. Are you sure it was in overdrive? I ask because it's very common for the screw 2.7L trucks to get 20+. When I run 75 down the interstate in my 2017 which only has the 6sp I manage to get 21 or so calculated MPG. I think I got 22 once. It's actually gotten better now that I'm past 20000 miles but a few points.

Just curious you might should have that looked at or do some checking. Also yes I get better on premium, hard to find ethanol free around me - but on 93 octane in the summer months it does bring it back up about 2 mpg. Not often worth it but I run that anyway because it runs better. winter I run 87 only - unless I was to tow something.

how do you figure that? Just curious. It's not the super crew it's the gear ratio that makes the biggest differences. if you have the tow package with the higher gear - then at 70mph - you are over 2K RPM and running some boost all the time - big difference. Vs some of us with a super crew, that don't have that package (I have nothing that big to tow) so mine has a 3.31 gear if I recall and that does make a bit of difference.

No, not towing or hauling anything. Normal mode in DRIVE. I do not manually select gears so it always makes it way to 10th. The 2017 with 6 speed is a different animal. I had one as a loaner and it got much better mileage.

You have something wrong with your truck. A similar 2.7 truck with the 10AT should average ~2mpg's better than a 6AT, under the same driver/conditions.

Going from memory - 6th on my 6sp is roughly between 9 and 10 on the 10sp with respect to drive ratio and I think that number is 0.68 to 1. So once in overdrive with the same aero dynamics on flat ground and similar if not same weight they should perform the same.

SO I would say something else is wrong again. Either you were going well over 75, or uphill the whole time (and that can be deceptive) or you have some significantly higher rear ratio - causing it to run a good bit higher in the RPM band.

What does your RPM run if you are set cruise control on 70?

Have you done any mods to the truck. Mine is fully stock

70mph, no hills anywhere near here, and like I said 3.55 gears. I drive about 120 miles a day. Same trip.

So how do you explain that on Fuelly the 2.7 SuperCrew is averaging 2 MPG better than the 3.5 and 5.0?

People tend to take anecdotal evidence and speculation as fact around here. But the thing is, this forum encompasses a very wide range of driving habits, terrain, weather, and fuel blends. Mileage is always going to vary significantly. My 2.7 is averaging over 4 MPG better than my 5.4 did in the winter while performing a lot better.
