I don't know why people are surprised by a 2.7L getting 25-30mpg when on flat grounds.

Flat highway = not using turbo. Of course a 2.7L is going to get 30mpg without the turbo on flats.

But as mentioned, any hills or grades totally cause MPG to go way down. I get 17mpg average on the 3.5L highway because it is all hills, up down up down. I drive Coquihalla highway in British Columbia and it kills it

^True story right there!
I built a 2015 SCrew 4x4 with a 2.7 (you know, because I could) and installed a 6 inch lift kit, 35" mud tires wrapped around 22" wheels. Put on front and rear Road Armor bumpers with a winch in the back and lots of other stuff.

By the way, all that stuff is HEAVY and pretty much forces the truck into boost ALL THE TIME!! It performed like a champ but it used a bunch of fuel doing it... to the tune of about 12MPG around town. When the engine would shut off at traffic lights I just laughed! We didn't take it on the highway, so I can't tell you what it did once it maintained speed.

I don't think many people do that kind of build on a 2.7 but if you do, it feels like you're driving around in a little Mustang because you're ALWAYS in boost and it sure is peppy!! The mileage may have stunk, but it WAS pretty fun to drive!

I'm not surprised - my lifetime avg is 24, but on Illinios flatland construction zone 45mph...= 35mpg
#4x4 reg cab short bed, no load - @ 55 It will do 32mpg, 65- 28mpg

I get good MPG when unloaded (20-25). When I tow, loaded or need to get somewhere in a hurry I don't care about MPG.

how are you guys getting this? I have never achieved anything greater than 19.5mpg. I pump 87 though. Anyways, my trip to Houston I got 19.5. There were points where i hit about 85-90mph. My trip back to Dallas even worse.

are you guys driving 55mph on the interstate?

Not 55 but certainly not 85-90. Speed kills MPG. I mainly drive 65 as the limit can be anywhere from 55 to 70.

The pic above is in a 45mph construction zone..
At 65 set on cruise I get 28...
Higher the speed lower the mpg.. Ive had a few to many tickets and no longer speed so its good motivation for me not to
..boaring, yep...but am enjoying the mpg
