2.7L Idle Drops while in Park
 

Question for this group on something odd I've experienced a few separate times w/ my truck. Did some searching and I couldn't find this scenario...

The latest example was the truck was at operating temp, HVAC & Stop/start switched off, and in park while I was filling up with gas.

As you can see in this video, after awhile the idle RPM's dropped to ~500rpm before it picked back up to normal. It would go through this loop over and over again, about every 30 seconds.


No CEL or drivability issues. ~93k on it.

A question first, are you force filling after the fill nozzle trips the first time on a full tank?

Filling the tank while engine on?

Filling it until the 1st click, that's all. No additional fuel after that.

Yes that's correct.

Sounds like the cam phasers/solenoids. Let the oil get old (>50%) and see if it gets worse, culminating with it dying at stops.
