I really like mine. I have about 4500 miles on mine and averaging about 22-23 mpg. Mostly highway driving though. Where that motor really shines for mpg is in town IF you're not heavy on the pedal. It will do better than the 5.0 I'm sure.

Power and torque is great, I love accelerating onto the freeway or up big hills without the motor screaming and transmission downshifting everywhere, it just pulls like a diesel in 5/6th gear.

But honestly I think I would wait for the Gen2 2.7 in the 2018 model, I wish I would have. They are updating a few components and adding port injection for valve washing and improved low RPM performance.

My average for my first 30,000km's was 10.6 (For the Americans, this is 22.2 MPG):

The trip meter resets after 9,999km's (see the time and fuel used). This was taken in the winter and the average was starting to take a dive when I took the pic. I was actually driving in 4x4 when I took the pic... Prior to the winter I was at 9.7 average (~24 MPG).
I'm averaging 13.8 in both hiway and city. However, I'm driving at 120km/h. In Ontario, that's pretty much the speed that most commuters drive on the major hiways.

Mine jerks around my double axle 6x12 trailer likes it's nothing. Doesn't even need tow haul mode. That doesn't seem like much until you understand this same trailer made my 5.3 v8 shift and rev all over the place. It needed tow haul mode! Slightest hill with the trailer empty....downshift and rev like hell. The 2.7? Nope. You can't even feel the trailer behind the truck, you could behind my GM.

I really like my 2015 Lariat Supercrew 2WD with the 2.7. It has plenty of power and gets great gas mileage when you stay out of boost.

10,000 miles on mine, and absolutely no regrets coming from an 04 F150 in the same body style with the 5.4.

My old truck delivered about 14.5 mpg average. This truck is delivering 19 mpg average so far, so zero complaints. Always more than enough power on tap

And just a note, if they are adding a port injector (which I had not heard), it isn't for washing down the valves in all likelihood. Search particulate emissions on direct injection engines and strategies to mitigate them and you will learn the real purpose...

I'd buy another 2.7 in a heartbeat!

I have a 2016 XLT Screw with the 2.7L and 3.7 gearing and absolutely love it. Feels like driving my Mustang. I have 1k miles on it and average 15mpg city driving. Hopefully this will increase.

My dad has a 2014 fx4 screw with 5.0 3.5 gearing and it feels so sluggish compared to mine.

Can't beat the sound of the 5.0 that's for sure. No regrets on the 2.7

Highways here are 100, with some being 110, but speeding isn't the best idea out here. So much photo radar and manual radar/ladar everywhere, it's just not worth the speeding tickets.

Highway maximum speed is 100 here too, but accepted speed is usually 120.
