did my first oil change a week ago and was the easiest I have done. Had the 3.5 before and would always drip oil changing filter. 2.7 is so much better and not one drip of oil on floor.

Yup. The 2.7 is mess-less. Except when trying to hurry up and move your hand out the way from the drain plug. The oil comes out like a rocket.

It's what I've been using for a few years now, it's def the best solution.

That looks like a great option as I have that pan already. I wish I saw that first, but I ordered the big, deep pan thing though from Amazon and its was delivered yesterday.
The pan you ordered will work fine. I use it for all 3 of my vehicles, including the 2.7...the combo of depth and curved sides will prevent the oil flow from splashing out of the pan.

SO second post on here - just bought the 2017 F150 for my dad. Did the first oil change this weekend at 1460 or so miles. and it was interesting.
I knew about the cartridge filter and that's easy peasy - replace those orings - mostly because of how many turns that housing takes to fully seat - the ride a while to get home.
Hence the new orings in the package.
That new plastic plug - I did have to use pliers on it - narrow ones that I could get in the base of the tab. I was very worried about snapping that thing clean off - shouldn't have been so worried.
I saw people say the oil will gush out - meh OK I've got a large drain pan. so I thought - I'm tellin you it went almost to the rear axle.
Did the 15 minutes after filling before starting the engine - I put in all 5 quarts and part of the 1 quart - just to check it twice. Ran it - looked for leaks - didn't notice any - seems to be A OK.
Is there a way to minimize the amount of pressure under the oil gush? Did I miss a step - I opened the dipstick and the fill hole and I had removed the filter housing. Still came out pretty hard.
Other concern - upon start there was probably 10 seconds or so before the oil pressure came up on the gage. no lights, no warning, no noises but it worried me a tick. I mean my GM LS V8 comes right up in short order. as has every other car I've ever owned that also actually had a gage for it.
Meanwhile supposedly 3 days in it's still OK. But I was worried.
