A buddy (GM guy) made the mistake of giving a laughing grin when told 2.7 EB / 3.55 rear gear. Out in the country long straight road no traffic pinned his arsh to the seat till he said that's enough. Went holy **** didn't expect that. That was a 16 Lariat 501a 6 speed in sport mode. He didn't grin and laugh at the new 18 with the 3.5EB.

Depends on what your coming from. Ford motors have always seemed weak to me. Use to OHV GM, when floor they
downshift jerk and go. Course one of my GM was a Corvette. Ford just seem to build up speed to me, probably do
the same times just does not feel like it. Find the 3.5 eco in the Limited is ok, merges right into traffic, fake noise
and all. Prefect around town with decent mileage. Now if was on roads that had to do a lot of passing ??? don't
know, but something i will not encounter. Still like the GM 6.2 V8. Its in the Caddy, Has old school feel.
Will say the eco feels better than the 5.4 that was in past Navigators and past King Ranches

At the age now where a Tesla looks good, 300 mile range, no going to a gas station and great acceleration.

I can hit 80 on an uphill on ramp pulling my boat... I think acceleration is just fine. I also feel the brakes are more than adequate. No surge brakes on my boat trailer and I have no issues stopping.

In response to someone earlier, the 2.7L and 3.5L have essentially equal acceleration from 0-60, the 3.5L does better in the quarter mile. There was a whole thread on it, thought was it was due to transmission stress thresholds and torque. Anyway, that aside, both the 2.7L and 3.5L are I believe the fastest non-specialty production trucks out there right now in terms of 0-60 speeds. Specialty would be including the Raptor or custom tuned vehicles like a Rousch Silverado or whatever. While they are amazingly quick for half-ton pickups, they aren't going to be the most amazing acceleration experience you can have in a vehicle. A lot of it will be perception too, it feels "slower" when you sit higher. When I am on the freeway in the F-150, 60MPH or 80MPH just feels like you are just moving along. When we take my wife's C-Max which is very low to the ground, even 70 feels a lot faster.

So it's tough to understand what your gauge of "quick" is, but for a truck the 2.7L is very quick. But for both perception reasons and the physical reality of moving a big-*** pickup, it isn't going to feel like a Mustang.

Did you test drive both engines? You can't really be mad at the truck if you didn't test all the engines prior to buying.

Some quick googling shows your RDX 0-60 time is around 7-7.5 seconds. The 2.7 EB should be around 6-6.5 seconds. Your truck is quicker than your SUV.

I came over to Ford after driving Toyota Tundra's with the 5.7 for several years. And before that, I had Chevy or GMC pickups with V8's. Loved the Tundra's, just hated the fuel economy, and the GM trucks, I got tired of visiting the dealers for problems with the trucks. The first time I drove an F150 with the 2.7, I was quite skeptical that such a small displacement engine could satisfactorily move a full sized truck. And I was proven wrong, and this little engine continues to impress me.

I had a 2015 with the 2.7, and liked it enough to trade for a 2018 with the same engine. It is as fast, or possibly a little bit faster than my Tundra's were, and is getting several MPG's better fuel economy than either the Toyota or GM's did. Either you are expecting too much from your truck, or there is something wrong with it. But as someone stated earlier, I would not be redlining the new engine until it has 500 miles or so on it. Then see how it performs.

I don't know for sure, but my observation of three trucks with 3.5eb and 3.55 gears, all 4x4 screwcab. 2011 ran fast -2014 dog -2015 hot rod. I think some motors for some reason or another have a issue that is not easy to trace. As a side note the 2014 dog went to the shop last week. Two cracked spark plugs @ 73000 miles. It now runs better than ever. It even is no longer on the (dog) list! All I'm saying is sometimes stuff slips through with something that just will not show up. With that, I will put on my fire suit and wait for all the experts!

If you are looking for quickness off the line, then the 2.7L EcoBoost is your motor. That engine is insanely responsive.

I hope I came here earlier asking this question before I bought it.

I also found the brake is not very good compared to my SUV. Is it normal? What do you think?

Thanks
While no doubt if acceleration was your primary goal you should have gotten a 5.0 with 3.73 diff, even a 2.7 (depending on axle ratio) should be able to keep up with an MDX. I'd take it in and have them look at it. Maybe take the service writer out for some full throttle runs in your truck and another new truck on the lot for comparison.
