2.7 Auto Start Stop?
#11
I've got 1500 miles on mine. I live in South Florida where the temperature is often above 90 degrees. I find when the temperature is in the 90's that the engine often shuts down for just 4 or 5 seconds and restarts. This is disconcerting and probably does not save enough gas relative to the wear and tear on the starter and battery.
I find that when the temp is in the upper 70's or lower 80's that the feature seems to work very well. The engine can shut down for 30 seconds or more. Typically the traffic light changes before "heating/cooling" limits the shutdown.
I think the Auto Start/Stop feature is a good one that just needs a little refinement in Ford's predictive algorithm to not shutdown unless the engine can stay off for at least 15 seconds.
