Pay now or Pay later,
On my 2014 4x4, 3.5 Eco. Lariat, I did my first oil change with less than 4,000 miles on it.
Change it every 3500 to less than 5,000 miles and rotate the tires at the same time.
Ford doesn't use any break in oil.

Ecoboost?

I would change it at 1000, 5000, then again at 10k and also take a sample at the 10k change and send it in for analysis. That will tell you if you need to change it sooner or not.

You could probably go with 7500 mile oil changes on the NA motors though.

Sort of a random recommendation. Send it where?

Not random and all. In fact, it's very common. Send it here.

Cool thanks. In my 20yrs of driving and 15yrs on forums, this is the first time I've ever heard of doing something like this. I would likely have no idea how to interpret whatever results they likely send back to me after analysis.

They will include a paragraph explaining what the results mean. I think they have a few sample reports on the site you can take a look at to get an idea what they put on there, including their summary and explanation.

Make fun all you want.

First change around 500 miles.

After that every 5k

I did my first change at 1,000 miles because the oil looked moisture contaminated, milky white. Maybe too many brief cold starts the 8 months it sat on the dealership lot before I bought it.

I'd suggest looking real good at the oil on the dipstick for water contamination, and smell it for fuel contamination, and if either are present, change it out early.
