'18 V8 whistle during acceleration
#101
Is there any possibility this is due to IWEs?

Possible but there is no grinding noises associated with the whistle. I would imagine there to be a grinding noise with the whistle, as the whistle would be a vacuum loss somewhere in the system. With so many people having this noise, it would have to be a poorly designed part, poorly manufactured part or combination of the two.

If it were me, I would buy an aftermarket Throttle Body, install it and see if the noise goes away. If it does go away, great. If not, I would return the throttle body. I would rather pay a couple hundred dollars to fix a problem that annoys me versus going back and forth to the dealer and Ford. That's just me though.

My 2015 5.0 has the same noise at 1600-2000 RPM. Originally thought it could have been a belt issue but i am now leaning towards a throttle body issue. Thanks everyone for sharing all your information about this problem.

UPDATE
I now have a case number with Ford and my local dealership will be following up with me on this whistle noise, in addition to the other two things the dealership claims are "characteristics of the vehicle." I don't fault the dealer on that. I just think Ford doesn't have a fix for it yet. My service advisor told me others have brought their trucks in for the whistle but Ford tell the dealer there is no fix yet, so, Ford knows there is an issue.

Mine's making the same noise as everyone else seems to be. I bought mine when it was cold out, didn't notice the noise until it warmed up and I started driving with the windows down. I added a Roush intake and it only made the whistle more pronounced so that's probably coming off and going back.

Since your intake made the whistle louder, I suspect even more this noise is coming from the throttle body or intake manifold.

Hmmm... very interesting. Seems more like the whistling is a design issue (that probably isn't causing any harm, but is just annoying) based on this, and not a defect in the traditional sense.
