Post 17” wheels fit on Sport 4x4?

I recently bought a set of 17” aluminum wheel from a 2011 F150 to use for my winter set. My truck is a 2016 crew cab Sport 4wd with the 18” wheels. Guys at Firestone wouldn’t put on the wheels because the calipers were so close to the wheels, probably about 1/2” to 3/4” space. I know the standard wheels are 17” so these should work right? Anyone else done this and been ok?
Thanks

I am running 17's from an 2005 F150 as my winter wheels (I have a 2017 Screw 4x4). Had them on since October with no issues.

Ok well the inside of a wheel is perfectly round so if it doesn’t hit the caliper then it’s never going to hit the caliper. Obviously this firestone worker needs to be fired and should be working at McDonald’s. Clearly lacking the most basic common sense.

Great, thanks for letting me know. It’s what I figured, guess I’ll have to get my tires from a shop that knows what they’re doing. Glad I wasted 2 hrs of my Saturday dealing with this idiot.
