Default 2017 Max Tow SCrew with 3.5EB

Here's a video of my Cold Start Startup....been to the dealer with it twice. First time they "could not duplicate the problem", this time the tech said the "rattle is normal, according to a release by Ford"

Do you have the release by Ford?

I don’t and would not know how to begin to get it. My dealership just likes to sell stuff, based on my experience.

Whoa. Mine did this for the first time after sitting for 5 days. They are checking it out now.

When DW picked it up from the service, the tech told her that “Ford was working on a fix for it”. Different from what we were told when we dropped it off. It’s a lease....guess I won’t keep this one next July.

I was told by the service manager that the off throttle rattle on cold start was normal, Said it was from the intake, something about Rails but he wasn't 100% sure

That's exactly what mine's doing. 2018 EB at 36,000 miles. Been doing it for a while. Guess I'll have to take it in. Then they will tell me it's "normal". Let the games begin.

Not a fun game! I appreciated mine a lot today. Finally got the all towing stuff tweaked and man does it tow. I've been through the games and accepted the accel/decel rattle at this point. I've got another leaky oil pan but this truck will move and pull. I guess I'll deal with it. My 5.3 also sounded like crap but also pulled like crap.

Oh well I guess

2017 3.5L Ecoboost, 24,000 miles. Cold engine rattle started a month ago. Took it to the local dealership, tech stated that Ford Corporate told them not to track down engine start noises. He said that I have a 60,000 warranty and not to worry. Sounds like crap. I am embarrassed to own this.

I wish dealers had consistent messaging. Also, dealership service is one of the biggest deciding factors for me personally when it comes to brand loyalty. I don't think most domestic, non-premium, brands realize that post-sale support and service is going to make or break them.
