17 3.5 Ecoboost Rattle.
#1722
I've been following this thread for a while and wanted everyone to know my experience with the startup rattle in my 18 3.5L EB (25K mi). After having it in the shop for 2 weeks, my dealership confirmed the problem and replaced 2 cam phasers and the VCT solenoid. Three days later the problem came back, though not as loud as before (I'm expecting it to return, though). I'm not going to bother taking it back, based on what I'm reading here.
Also, to rant a bit on an unrelated topic, I had them apply TSB 18-2274 AGAIN (it didn't take the first time) and, while it definitely shifts better, it still shutters from 5>4>3. Definitely not liquid smooth like my wife's Accord with 200K miles.
I'm seriously thinking about getting into a Sierra or Silverado. This is the first new truck I've ever bought myself and I'm pretty sick with Ford's overall lack of quality control.

They changed mine out less than a month ago. Took a week maybe 2 to get the parts. Did the vct solienoids and cam phasers at the same time

Might this mean there are truly new design phasers out there, but they are being hoarded/supply exhausted by the engine production line?
