I also noticed that 15/16s seem to sit much lower. Sitting next to my buddies older F-150s that were not lifted in any way mine seemed a lot lower. I do love my power running boards. Makes it look like more clearance but you still have them getting in and out of the truck.

That said, I recently did a front and rear level 2.5" in front and 1.5" in back. I also threw heavy 33" Nitto Trail Grapplers and 20" rims and the combo of both hit my mileage pretty hard. I'd like to remove the air dam for looks but don't want to hurt my mileage too much more. At this point with the level and tires is the air dam really helping the mileage at all or does it only help when the truck is stock low to the ground?

I have never seen anyone chart a noticeable difference with and without the air dam in normal driving. The effect is likely too small to notice.

If you think the Fords sit low, have you seen the Chevy/GMCs?

Those things sit low like a car!

My F150 does not feel like it sits low, it TOWERS over my car... the roofline of my car, comes to the beltline of my truck when parked side by side. The roof is about the same height as the bed.

Now, this is the first F150 I'ved owned, and I am sure they don't sit up like the older trucks, but compare all the new trucks out today, and the Fords are the only ones that "sit like a truck" in my opinion. I feel like I could run my buddys Chevy over in a heartbeat.

I am at stock height, but have the FX4 package.... it might be my eyes, or illusion, but the FX4's seem to sit a little higher, and have a little more rake in them than the non-FX4s. I am just basing that upon the eye test, I have zero facts to back that up.

I didn't really compare to other brands of newer trucks. I'm sure those are lower too now that you mention it.

I'm very happy with my height now with FX4, 33" tires, and 2.5" level. Gave it just enough of a bump where it felt trucklike again to me.

Thanks on the air dam, that shiz is coming off tonight.

Interesting, because my pregnant wife has an easier time getting into my 2015 than she did the 2011 we had before it ... both Lariat 4x4s.

I measured the height of the step bars on both trucks, and they were equal... so at least the 4x4 Lariats sit at the same height as they used to.

The 15 has 3/4 of an inch more ground clearance due to the new frame, so the door height is kinda irrelevant.

My 13 sits 3 inches higher at the rear bumper vs my 09 Silverado Z71.

Left mine for now, I'm a ***** about making permanent modifications. But I'll probably end up cutting them.

This is our ex250, stock suspension and tire size, and our new platinum 4wd 6.5 behind it, also stock. Maybe the swoopy new lines make them appear lower... Fwiw. They are essentially the same length and wheelbase, but the F150 with it's car-style front CV axles turns a tighter radius. I miss the real long bed.

Funny I just did the same thing. I had a '13 F250 6.2 SuperCab with 2.5" lift & 35's and just traded this weekend for a '16 F150 SuperCrew 5.0. It's definitely lower to the ground but man the ride is so much better. My F250 was getting a vibration that was driving me crazy and I couldn't figure out if it was the lift, tire, drivetrain or a combo. Couple that with the gas mileage it was killing me. I loved the high stance of my F250 and that thing would go anywhere and do anything but it was honestly just too much truck for my needs. Plan on putting a 2" leveling kit and most like 34's on my F150 to get some height back.

I have had an 2004, 2008, and 2013 F150 and these do seem a touch lower from factory but I think once you level and add tires its all about the same.
