As you indicated in your posts, your truck has some other issue and is now in the shop. See what they diagnose.

There is no widespread 10 speed issue.

GM builds overpriced crap, I will skip the 10 speed since they had something to do with it. I left GM for a reason, I damn sure don't want to come to Ford to buy GM designed junk.

There's no real reason to do that. Ford engineered the 10 speed in the F-150 and did the programming, which GM doesn't use or have any part in.

"This new 10-speed rear-drive transmission is the result of collaboration between Ford and General Motors, although Ford had the engineering lead on it."

GM is taking the engineering lead on the FWD version of a 9 speed.

"The companies also are jointly developing a nine-speed transverse automatic for front-drive cars and crossovers; GM is leading the engineering on that effort."

The collaboration part is that Ford and GM split development costs and Ford shared the design to help with the FWD development.

All of this is also why the OP on this thread is nonsense.

The ZL1 Camaro is the only GM its in right now. It is going to 8 others by 2018. All of them are Rear wheel drive also. I know the supercharged ZL1 has more HP and Torque than the Ford application. Looks like the other GMs it will be going in are the Yukon, Suburban, Tahoe, Sierra and Silverado. They are speculating on some Cadillacs also. GM did there software and Ford did their software for this transmission.

Ford and GM are working a joint venture on a new 9 speed. That is the one for use in front wheel drive vehicles.

I don't disagree that it may not be widespread. But there seem to be enough people driving around in sport mode so the truck doesn't lug in the wrong gear. And others that have a truck that lugs and clunks like mine. If it is a limited number then Ford should certainly be willing to swap out the bad ones for ones that operate as intended. Or if becomes apparent it's more that an isolated problem then they should come out with a fix. Ford has done neither at least not through my dealership.

Yes my new truck is currently in the shop for second time because it shut off at a stop light and threw codes. While I doubt they are related it would be fantastic if they were and my transmission issues got fixed at same time.

I really like everything else about the truck and just want it to operate correctly wether it be fixed or replaced but so far Ford says they can't do anything. I shouldn't have to be crossing my fingers with a brand new truck.

I agree with you and believe Ford will do the right thing as far as getting the issue fixed. Part of the problem with getting a first model year of some big change (like engine and transmission) is that while you may be a bit more likely to run into issues, I also think it takes longer for the issues to make enough "noise" for Ford to know it's a widespread problem.

We may be into the 2018s before we really learn any major truths on problems with the 2017 10 speeds on a large scale.

I hate that you are dealing with issues like this, especially being without your new truck. My intention was in no way to diminish the problems that people are having, just to push back on the idea that this is some poorly designed GM transmission that is universally a bad design. I haven't seen enough evidence of that, but if that evidence comes, then so be it. I have nothing to gain from defending a bad transmission.

I hope your stuff gets worked out soon and it's the last time you have to spend any days without your truck!

My 10 speed clunks occasionally on downshift and it is annoying. I hope with more miles it does better. Drives better when I am towing. Overall I really like it except for the occasional clunk. Sport mode or towing seems to alleviate the problem.

Thank you. Yeah it's really not the same driving around in a base model Edge. I hope you're right and they get mine fixed or are willing to swap it out sooner than later. I really want one of the ones I keep hearing about that are shifting like "butter", not to mention one that doesn't shut off and throw error codes lol. I've already vented in a few threads

so now I just need to sit back and hope that Ford will do the right thing.

I've put 220 hard miles on my brand new lariat with 10 speed since taking delivery last Wednesday, and I have to say this is the best slushbox I've ever driven. I've driven manuals as daily drivers and track day toys for the better part of 10 years and I absolutely hate the lag inherent in automatics.

This transmission shifts intelligently under all conditions. Shifts hard when you want it (especially in sport mode where I've been flooring it regularly), and keeps the ride smooth for those times you have sensitive passengers or fragile cargo. Great all around transmission, and short of a dual clutch tranny, probably as good as it's going to get without a foot clutch pedal.

Most. I said most.

I'm hoping that your problems are something related to the "shutting off" problems you describe and it has nothing to do with the trans.
