10R80 Transmission Failure
I had dodged the transmission failure for nearly 5 years and then it happened this morning. Took it to the dealer which I have a great relationship with, they just called me and told me of the 10th gear bushing failure and the transmission will need to be overhauled. Luckily the truck is at 73K miles and under extended warranty until 75K. They told me everything is covered by warranty and were ordering the new parts for it. Said I should have the truck back by next week. I'm going to try to ger pictures of the inside of the transmission. I'll update with any new details I get
Turned 140k on my 2018 f150 with 3.5l ecoboost. Started shifting hard 1st to second gear. Took it to local Ford dealership for repair. Torque converter and other parts were bad. Cost to replace with new transmission 9k. Have Endurance warranty and they are only covering 6k of the work. Endurance wanted to put a used transmission in it but dealership would not do it. I didn't want a used one either. Getting new transmission that will have the latest upgrades.
Pretty costly repair. Endurance warranty not living up to its advertising.

My Ford extended warrantee saved me $2,500 last year when the valve body needed to be replaced. I still don't trust this transmission. My extended warrantee ended the beginning of this month. I had Flood Ford extend it for another four more. The last one saved me at least $500 over the cost of the extended warrantee. The additional four years was $1,900. When I see the horror stories of the replacement costs, it makes paying for it a little easier to swallow. Only 27,000 miles on her now. After four more years, I will have to decide if it is worth it to do it again. I figure if the trans dies, it will probably be in the next four.
