Why does this drivel constantly appear in this forum? Do Chebby lovers purposefully seek out Ford owners to hate on? There's never a need for crap comments like this, all they do is lower the IQ of everyone in the thread.

The 10L80 has it's own problems. Go talk about those issues on Chebby forums.

I'm concerned about the CDF drum issues as well...
My 2018 5.0 has a HUGE flare between the 1-2 shift(it is tuned to delete the stock 1-3 skip shift) but it only happens at the very first shift of the day. And if I back out of the garage, it doesn't do it.(I'm wondering if changing fluid paths from R to D moves things around)
I'm very disappointed like everyone else...my truck has 45,000 miles on it, definitely never expected to be concerned about trans issues already. I'll try to get it in before the powertrain warranty is up...hopefully tuning it doesn't come back to bite me.

My biggest concern is if a revision has been made to correct the issue! I don't want to rebuild/replace and just have the same thing happen again 50K miles later...........

Well, this got my attention. I also have a 2018 5.0 with mileage in the mid 40's that is stock (not tuned). If I get start it and drive off immediately and am easy on the throttle, I get the harsh 1-2 instead of the typical 1-3 shift. Only first thing in the morning as above. Now that it's cold out I'm remote starting and the truck idles for about 5 minutes before I pull away. When it has warmed up a bit, I don't get the harsh 1-2 but rather the expected 1-3 that's perfectly smooth. I'll be paying close attention while it's still covered by the CarMax MaxCare policy.

That transmission is a reman, that's ok, just sayin; also requires trade in. I'd probably do a Jasper reman, decent warranties. I turned my gear indicator off after the first month or ownership, way less stress, get in and drive. I hear and read the stories, way more negative people show up than positive. Of all the trucks produced, is this trans really bad? I don't think so. I feel based on some in the towing forums and FB, some were bought on a lease and used more than a 1/2 ton should be.

The controls may not be attempting a 1-3 shift until fluid temperature is above some temperature, need someone with more in-depth knowledge on the transmissions before declaring that a fault.

I have a question for those with the 10r80 but more specifically those with a 2.7L. I have a 2018 and I’m having some issues with front diff leaking, low speed potential iwe noise faint grind. But in the meantime ive been driving a 2021 with 3.5L. I do the same daily commute, ive noticed this truck likes to be in 10th by the time I hit 80kph vs mine will hang on to 9th. The shop I have it at for the other issues seemed concerned that the transmission pump was emitting high pitch noise but didn’t know if it’s a problem or not. If the pump was indeed showing signs of failure and not having enough pressure, could it be the result of not getting into 10th? Mine usually gets in 10th when I’m at about 95kph. I Will also mention, this 3.5/10spd setup is very smooth and gets better mileage than mine sadly.

30000 mile 2020 2.7L with 3.73 axle ratio, under very light acceleration and when flat or slight downhill I've seen 10th engage as low as ~50mph (80kph) but that is the minimum boundary and I'd say 52-53 is more typical for regular acceleration. Once I'm in 10th the truck will hold that gear down to 45mph or so if I'm being gentle.

Hope you get your 2.7 sorted. If I had to guess the smaller displacement of the 2.7 requires more rpms to do the same work as the 3.5 and this moves the shift points. And beyond that your 2.7 is just older and has more wear and buildup slowly eating away at your engine efficiency.

Same here. 2019 2.7 3.73 gears. I feel like the truck lugs too much at 50mph in 10th. Many times I lock out 10th when I am driving in those situations.
