465,000 Mile 2.7

my favorite highlights from the reviews you mentioned:
"I've done no rotations. have 130,000 miles on it now and at this rate it will still be a while before these tires are done." (ford expedition!)
"I'm finally down to 3/32nds on the tread after 6 years and 128,000 miles and could probably squeeze another 10,000 miles out of them"
We got one guy, giant heavy vehicle, never rotates, 130k miles and 'still new'. We've got another driving around on damn near bald tires that wants to grab another 10k miles out of them.
This was off the first page, and most the reviews seem to be landing in the 70-90k range, where people are replacing them because they realize its time. Michelin rates them at 70k mile warranty.
Again, im not arguing that wont last towards 100k miles, but I don't know how you can promote that they are still in great condition. And not just you personally, anyone. Thats scary to me, people driving 80-90mph on the highway, texting, on 100k mile old tires. Great.
Anyways, back on topic. I dont see why it should be a surprise that the 2.7L is still running strong, after all its not a GM motor
I'll be curious to see when he needs a turbo replacement on this thing, if he gets that far.

I'm not calling anyone out except maybe myself when I say I have 33k miles on my original MS/2's and they have like 5/32 left with proper inflation and have been rotated once somewhere in the middle.

well you should be rotating every 3-5k for max life.... so thats hurting you. Plus if you do a bunch of city driving, all the turning and braking and parking garages and anything put a lot of extra wear on the tires. It's not uncommon to get great tire life on a vehicle that spends its life on the interstate, hardly ever braking. I'm just calling a spade a spade.

I mean 100K miles - assuming an average speed of 50 miles over all (would be curious to see what his trip computer rates are)
means 83. something DAYS in the truck over the year. almost 3 months total time - in a year. and that's strung together constant. factor in you need to sleep and eat - double that - so 170 days of the year for this.
That would be impressive.
That's fine. I'm a liar.
People doing what Pat does regularly get over 200,000 miles on a set of Michelin's. Pat's truck has the same tires mine does. 20" Michelin LTX Ms/2. Run them on the highway, keep them rotated and full of air and it's no big deal. If you get bored sometimes, drop over to Tire rack and pull up the Michelin LTX Ms/2. Read the reviews. Line the reviews up by miles driven. Select "over 70,000 miles". There are 91 of reviews with over 70,000 miles. Most of them with substantially over 100,000 miles. Those 91 people are liars too?

All this leads me to ask another question though - how many miles were on his GM truck when he ditched it and when does he plan on ditching this one.

not a gm motor LOL.
yet in my Daily driver - 4 door family car - my LS3 has 150K miles on it in 9 years of mostly stop and go city driving. granted at 147K miles I had to take the engine apart to replace a lifter that died but that was still 147K miles of mostly city driving - very spirited city driving - IE I've gone through more than 2 sets of tires on that car.
but whatevs.

In my experience (8 new vehicles in my life) I always oil change and rotate and I never get over 30-40k on factory tires, but I have never driven the michellens the OP is talking about, so maybe they are a good tires.
Also, as others have said, driving conditions matter, if he is doing mostly highway, maybe you get 100k with more life on a tire. I do a 50/50 mix plus I drive a bit spirited at times lol. Actually, I can hit the off ramp to my house at around 60, yeah you get a little squeal out of the front tires, but it's fun.

I know the answer about Pat's Chevy, but I'm incapable of telling the truth.
