Impressive driving (21 months and 158115 miles):

347.5 miles/day driving 5 days a week
289.6 miles/day driving 6 days per week

My butt hurts just thinking about those numbers.

And the start/stop system is still functioning and being used.

The miles are impressive but remember it’s really the operating hours that tell the whole story , how many hours are on the engine ? The stop/start system probably doesn’t get a lot of use, so I don’t think that’s a big deal . I’d expect this truck to easily run 300,000 miles with regular maintenance .

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say his truck hasn’t experienced too many idle hours.

Doesnt matter in this case if it’s idling or not the total hours matter. On an emissions diesel it makes a difference but not enough to worry about on a gas engine that is running this many miles a week you don’t do miles like this idling .... We like to see oil changes with conventional oil at 250 hrs no more unless there is a deep sumo pan or the engine is a stationary engine that runs at 1800rpm or so . Semi synthetic can go a little further ... I’m betting the truck has oil changed at about 200-250 hr intervals( in 10,000 miles that would be a 40-50 mph average .speed . At this rate the engine will run about 2500 hrs per 100000 miles , the engine should be able to make 7500 hrs IMO when run in this fashion. At my job we service our pickups by the hour and by the oil life monitor .... I have a 2016 3500 crew cab 4x4 dually dump truck that runs all day and tows an asphalt roller every day , carries 4 guys and gets 1/2-1 ton of busted asphalt dumped in the body a few times a day. This truck only has 15,000 miles on it , but it’s had the oil changed 6 times with full synthetic and when
the oil life monitor was under 15 percent . It has close to 2000hrs which is the equivalent of 80-100k highway miles ..This is a truck where idle hours matter...

Idle hours matters in an EB, not so much in the 5.0 or Gen 2 EB, but too many idle hours in a Gen 1 can mean gas infused oil and coked valves. thats why I say it is more important than overall hours. I know mine I change the oil more often in winter due to using remote starts, which leads to the oil having a nice aroma of 87 octane to it. If it has a lot of miles and low idle hours, then I would take that over a lower total hour and high idle hours. In the OP case I highly doubt it would have a larger percentage idle vs total. It was a statement in general.

In this thread and situation idle hours are irrelevant , this truck isn’t sitting still long
