Default 10 Speed trans readout on dash

Just got a 2017 Lariat with the 10 speed, the gear indicator on the dash is not operating, any fixes?

Press the +/- selector on the column shifter while in drive. The gear indicator should appear on your dash after doing that.

Page 190 of your manual:

Progressive Range Selection

Progressive Range Selection gives you the ability to lockout gears from the automatic shifting range. This may provide you with an improved driving experience (for example, in slippery conditions or when experiencing a steep grade).

• With the gearshift lever in drive (D), press the – button to active PRS. All available gears will display with the current gear indicated.

• Press the – button again to lock out gears beginning with the highest gear.

• Only the available gears will display and the transmission will automatically shift between the available gears.

• Press the + button to unlock gears to allow the transmission to shift to higher gears. The transmission will shift automatically within the gear range you select.

Anyone experience this feature returning to normal 10 speed operation after limiting the gears? I've used this a bit driving around seeing how it operated and noticed it had returned to all 10 gears (locked out at 6th) after about 15 minutes. I didnt shut the vehicle off or anything and auto start stop was disabled.

I'll run for hours with 10th (and often 9th) locked out when towing and have noticed no instance of the truck re-enabling the gears I've locked out unless I shut down and restart.

That's what it's all about. This site is pretty good at being helpful. I've seen other forums where folks always respond with 'use search'. Good bunch of people on here.

Not meaning to lecture, but reading the manual is a good place to start for most questions. Familiarizing yourself with controls and indicators after buying it should be common sense. Enjoy!

How ironic. I have the manual in my lap as I type this reply and am reading about the features of my new Lariat as it has far more gadgets than my XL did. I actually enjoy reading the manual and it definitely reduces time spent searching for answers later.
