10 speed 3rd gear poll
It's been a long time since I owned an automatic, but now I've got a 2 week old 2.7L with the 10 speed. I'm still trying to get use to it, first impression was that they could have made it a 8 speed. The only way I can get it to engage 2nd & 4th gears seems to be in sport mode. The 1-3 shift is pretty "clunky" in "normal" mode, especially if you back off the throttle as it shifts 1 to 3. "Eco" mode makes for better shifts in mine, as it modulates/restricts the throttle input and that seems to really smooth it out. This transmission behaves best with smooth & steady throttle input.
Definitely could & should be programmed better, but not anything that bothers me thay much.

I'm have pretty much only driven standard transmission for the past 19 years so this is my first modern transmission, but today I was driving in stop and go traffic and the truck shifted so hard and lurched forward that I thought someone had rear ended me. To the point where I actually got out and looked for damage. I then realized it was the truck shifting from 1st to 3rd and back into 1st again.
Its dumb, but after not having driven an auto for so long I forgot how they are supposed to feel.

same here.. i'm always in sport mode .. i was wondering if that's why i don't see some of these transmission "issues" .. however i did see someone who had an issue with the sport mode downshift because they are not used to how sport cars down shift
I had a 2017 (early) 10 speed 3.5L and now a 2018 10 speed 5.0. I used to have a hard shift right after starting up when the transmission was cold on my 5.0 but the reflash improved it. It only shifted hard once and then it was fine. The 17 was butter smooth all the time. I thought that was just a thing that all autos did when they were cold.
What I do have is a harsh downshift from 10th to about 6th or 7th under hard acceleration on the highway.
