Default 10 speed 3rd gear poll

If you have experience with a 10 speed transmission, are shifts involving 3rd gear different than the others?

edit for my post updating this thread https://www.f150forum.com/f118/10-speed-3rd-gear-poll-437238/index4/#post7013110

little harsh when cold but the 6R80s in my 14 and 16 were the same. No auto transmission I've driven has liked cold fluid

Default 3rd gear shift

Mine is presently in the shop for perceived transmission issues. 1st to 3rd transition is rough all the time, 3rd to 5th all the time, 6-10 smooth. Downshifts can be especially rough, especially when coasting and reapplying the gas around 35-50, big clunk sound and feels like you get rear ended. One particular issue is when the transmission is in 3rd gear, it stutters like it is about to shift, doesn't, then picks up RPM's and eventually shifts.

Mine is not so much a hard shift as it feels more like it’s tryimg to decide to go to 4 or go to 5.

Mine seems to shift too soon into 3rd, seems to want to be in 3rd at 10 mph.

First, thanks for starting this thread. I was wondering about this myself. I recently called a Ford dealer to see if the truck had that TSB applied to it, the 18-2079 one. They said it had, so I wasn't sure if I should bring it back into a dealer or not. It's still under warranty.

I find that I can get a smooth shift if I very gently accelerate. After about 5 mins of driving, I don't notice a difference though.

My main question is should this be a "normal" thing?

1-3 has always been the worst, almost like it's stuck in overdrive for a split second...like it should be shifting out of 1st way quicker. I will say it's gotten MUCH better over the 1st 5k miles than it was when brand new...still 1-3 shift is the one that is most noticeable by a mile.

Harsher when cold, but that is to be expected, no problem when it warms up. Wife's Land Cruiser does it in the first 4 gears when cold.

When cold the 1st - 3rd gear shift is pretty rough.. even after letting the truck warm up for 5 or so minutes. Once it's warmed up I hardly notice the shifting at all.. except when it's two gears too high and I'm trying to maintain speed up a slight incline.. but my 15's 6 spd always seemed like it was a gear or two too high too.
