Question Will plastic bed liner make bed rust worse?

Hello F150 forum! I purchased a 2006 5.4l SCREW a few weeks ago, and was considering a plastic bed liner to cover up the scratches and dents in the bed. Unfortunately the seams in the bottom of the bed are starting to bubble.

In your experience, do you guys think that throwing a bed liner in will make it rust quicker? The bed liner manufactures claim that they drain the water fine, but it is still a concern I have.

The bed liner in question comes from my local Ford dealer, installed for $250.

You should sand the rusted spots, treat them with some rust inhibitor, paint over them then you should be good to have the bedliner installed. I have my bed sprayed with a few coats of matching red rhino liner.

I agree with RoJo's recommendation. A rubber bed mat CAN accelerate rust if you don't pull it regularly, wash out the dirt and debris and let it dry. Just got rid of an '02 Superduty that had a pretty spongy bed because I hadn't kept up with it.
