Not sure. Are you talking about orange peel?

Yeah I think they orange peel may have been a bit different. It almost felt like the texture was different....almost that the new paint seemed as if it didnt have the same shine either if that makes sense.

I was planning on having my detailer do a paint correction on the whole truck after.

Hard to tell with the pics. But yeah it makes sense. Could be a number of things. The clear could've shrunk and tightened up. A lot of that depends on temp and reducer selection. Too fast of a reducer can give a dye back effect. Could be it wasn't buffed enough.

Good times. I should have snapped a few more pics.

Well here's my 2010 when I painted it. That's straight off the gun. No buff. It was Leaps and bounds flatter, and shinier than the factory paint

Spoke to the manager today. They're fixingnthat dent that was still visible and respraying the entire side. Shop manager wasn't happy with how the paint looked the whole way across and thought it looked like the paint shrank.

So a few more days then hopefully we're good.

Yup. That's all prep. Primer sand scratches that don't get refined out to the paint manufacturers specs, can shrink. And look like you described

I had my truck hood repainted a few years back after something fell on it and dented it. The paint on the hood now looks like Porsche paint compared to that of the rest of the truck, lol.

Yeah not so much on mine, paint doesn't perfectly match up, orange peel doesn't match and they have no clue how to use a buffer.
