Quarter panel patch low budget style
Just to get some more action in here I'm posting up some pics of my Pontiac quarter patch I did today. No money to buy the panels I need to fix it correctly and tired of it looking like hell while I wait for money I decided I'm going to piecemeal it together the best I can with fenders. I have two old fenders of the same approximate gauge sheetmetal and I have welding wire and grinding discs so it's free and I think it looks way better.
The car is pretty ate up but not the worst out there. I'm working on the big hole.
I also wanted to get some of the holes on the body line, the ones I only had to weld shut.
So I cut a big chunk of steel off my K5 fender and pressed it on a pipe to shape it.
After shaping and cutting out the hole more I got it in. Flux core as is my usual.
Ground smooth and waiting to dry for primer.
Primed up. One piece at a time, I'll get to those smaller holes.
It's not perfect, but it is workable. Even just not seeing the window regulator from outside makes it worth it for me.
