Painting grille
Hey guys I have an 08 f150 with the chrome style grille, I want to paint it black to match my truck but have no idea where to begin or what kind of paint to use. Do I have to strip the fake chrome stuff or just sand it or what... I don't have a clue what I'm doing and dont want to ruin my grille lol so any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks
i picked up some Krylon Fusion for plastic, it says no prep superbond paint, but i did sand it a bit and used "Grime Off" heavy duty cleaner and degreaser on it.. should that be good enough to just go for it or am i missing any kind of vital step ?

I did a "how to paint chrome" in this very section. But i did it with pro materials. I basically did it for the people who bring their chrome to body shops, and the shop says that it can't be done.

In my personal opinion, i wouldn't use any krylon, or duplicolor paint on my truck. That is probably because i paint professionally, so I'm very biased on that.
Many on here have done it though.
If you're still going to do it yourself, I'd suggest adhesion promoter, and a good epoxy/etch primer before you start applying color.
You could also use Plasti dip, then use the glossifier they have. I assume you're truck is ebony black code UA.
