Paint chip fixes

What is the best method for fixing rock chips? I have one on my hood and one on the passenger side door. I want it to look as good as possible. Color is magnetic metallic.

I have no experience with this product, but just an hour ago I received my new Car and Driver and was looking at an ad for them...

You need to repaint that! After repainting that you can apply peelable coating to prevent from chips!

MAny ways to fix the chip. DR Colorchip is a quick fix that will make it look so much better, but if you're looking for near perfect, it will require some work. You need to first inspect the edges of the chip to make sure there is no loose paint. Remove any loose paint if there is. Using a very sharp tip, put a little color in the chip, being careful to get the paint IN the chip only and not to roll over the edges. Let that dry for a day. Do the same process with the clear. The paint and clear will shrink as it dries, so a light bubble is what you're trying to achieve. Once that's dry, you need to lightly scrape off any excess height of the new clear to bring it level with the surrounding paint. A razor blade with a slight curve will do the trick otherwise the edges of the razorblade will dig into the surrounding paint and scratch. Once it's mostly level, use some 1000 or 1500 sandpaper and very lightly blend it in. The factory clear coat is thin, so too much rubbing can put you through the clear. Compound and polish and you're finished.
