Default suspension question for you raptor owners

Is there any difference between raptor rear leaf springs and a fx4 leaf springs. Also will raptor rear shocks fit a f150 with a 3in block.

Thanks for the help!

They're the same as far as I know.

Raptor springs have a reduced load as well as more arch. Yes the shocks will work.

Old thread...

Gen1 Raptor leaf packs are the same as Non Raptor leaf packs BUT the application is different. Example: A SCAB Raptor uses a reg cab leaf pack. A SCREW Raptor uses a non Raptor SCAB leaf pack.

These are non-tow package leaf packs.

If you search there is another thread where I posted the source for this info. I can't remember if it was a BBLB or not but it was from Ford.

No their different, what they are is a standard F-150 rear spring with one leaf removed, thus creating a softer ride for off road, they also have increased arch. They carry different part numbers as well, and those are specific number for the Raptor. Why would you want them anyway? They have a greatly reduced load capacity. I actually took mine off and went with +3 Deavers, for a true progressive ride, better handling, and slightly more load capacity. I don't know where you got your info, but go to a Ford dealer and ask him about the rear springs, their all minus SVT except one which is only SVT, I can give you the numbers if you'd like? I've had mine completely apart, as did my standard F-150 before this one, my next will be a 5.0 F-150 and built the way the 2017's+ should have been

Not even close to being accurate. Part number is irrelevant. This wouldn't be the first time a manufacturer has different part numbers for the same part.

You'll have to do some correlation analysis but you'll figure it out. The Raptor does not have special leaf springs.

It even says in there that ALL spring packs are 2 + auxiliary (for all non MAX and HD)

<<< Actually has a Raptor

Ok, your right on that portion on part numbers but the reason with this one SVT is that the towing package springs are heavier spec'd than the regular springs. What I'm saying is, that these are towing package springs minus one spring, not standard springs. SVT discovered that this gave them the rate they wanted, it's not a tow package and it's not a standard production spring. When Ford built the Raptor, they built them in blocks as they gathered special parts that are not regular production items lined up to make a run build. Trust me I have dealt with Ford and SVT on this, I have two Raptors right now, and these are numbers 3 and 4. If you want to include our "Raptor" trophy truck I have 3.

That runs counter to what the document states. It clearly spells out the spring rates and which trucks get which springs. I can't argue against something I can't verify - lots of guys come on forums that 'know things'.

The factory Gen1 leaf pack is ****, regardless.

I seem to remember the SVT guys also saying the only difference between our 6.2 and the 6.2 in the 'R' was cams, mildly ported heads and a tune. That was an outright lie.

Edit:

I was chewing on what you said and something doesn't make sense. If what you are saying is true, the Raptor would have a heavier spring rate out back than a non Raptor with the same cab configuration. I do not believe that to be true. Anyone that has ridden in both will tell you the Raptor rides much softer.

Yes, I've heard that before on the 6.2's, on the springs the tow package minus one leaf gave the best balance over the non tow, two leaf with the helper/load. The difference supposedly was pretty noticeable when driving in washouts and other off road conditions. We talked at length with the SVT guys at the Tonapah 250 back in 2011-2012 can't remember which year, also again in 2015 when they were running their pre 2nd gen Raptor test rig, I was really only interested in the suspension, changes and differences. Your correct on the 6.2, I will add it's also like those who will tell you that a CRF450X is the same as a CRF450F other than the cam. The internet is full of "experts" I'm not claiming to be one, I just asked the actual engineering team allot of questions when we were all in the same place.
