Start up clunking
Hi, I have an '04 w/ a 4.6L and about 67,000 miles on it. Lately when I start the truck and it's cold (not cold outside I live in Arizona), I hear what sounds like metal clunking around and it doesn't sound like valve ticking to me. The noise sounds like it's coming the passenger side. Once I put it in gear and I'm driving the sound goes away and if it's warmed up and I start it I don't hear the sound either.
The noise isn't load enough to hear with the windows up but sounds like somethings wrong to me.
I switched to Shell gas (was using Chevron and I've always used 91 octane), hoping it might make a difference and it didn't.
I've been using AMSOIL since it had 3000 miles so I doubt this is oil related.
Any one have any ideas what this could be? Timing chain?
Thanks
