Question 4.6L Help

Hello everyone, I'm new here and would like to introduce myself and ask a few question. Just a little about myself, I own a 1997 Ford F-150 Supper Cab XLT short bed with a 4.6L, the truck has a 6" Fabtech suspension lift sitting on 10" pacer wheels with 35's. I have always owned F-150's from my first 1989 F-150, 1991 Bronco Eddie Bauer, 1995 F-150, 2003 F-150, and now my 97 F-150.

So here is what I am trying to figure out. I have bought a 2004 Ford F-150 Heritage 4.6L XL 4X4 and I am trying to figure out if the 4.6L motor from the 04 will work as a swap in my 97 f-150 which also has the 4.6L? the 4.6L from the 04 has a bad rod and a friend and I are going to pull it out and rebuild it and I am hoping that I can put it in my 97 once its rebuilt. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I enjoy learning anything and everything that I can so that I may be able to always do my own work.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

I believe the '04 Heritage has the 2v engine with the PI heads. Should swap into your '97, so long as all the sensors are in the same spots.
