Default Rear Differential Functioning

I currently have a 2010 Platinum SuperCrew 5.5' box 5.4 liter with 3.55 Limited Slip. I'm shopping for 2015-2016's and am wondering if someone could explain to me how the Regular Non Limited Slip Axle works? Is it only single track? Does it decide which tire to give power to randomly?
In addition, with the Electronic Locking Axle, how does it work when not Locked? Is it just single tire, random single tire?
Thank you!

Basically torque is split evenly between the axles. When you hit the torque threshold of the tire with the least traction, that tire spins and no further torque can be delivered to either side.
