Hey yall. I bought an 05 f150 5.4 4x4 with 80k miles about a month or 2 ago. Since then I had to do cam phasers and passanger side exhaust manifold. And had the shudder shifting out of overdrive. Now the shudder is there constantly in overdrive under normal-moderate acceleration only in overdrive. I don't want to trade it in and am hoping it's an easy fix. Please help me. I spent 2k a few weeks ago thinking I was fixing my truck but now this comes up.

you can try changing the fluid and adding a tube of dr shudder tranny fix.it works,i use to use it in a lot of the older fords that had trans shudder with good results

you sure its not a misfire? engines are notorious for eating plugs

had similar issue with my 02...suspected trans.at first but eventually found it to be a faulty cop.no cel or codes,

Check coils, and also when you change tranny fluid, make sure you drop the fluid from the converter as well. If you just drop the pan you will get only a few quarts. If you drain the converter as well you get nearly the whole capacity.

Had the same symptoms with my 07 expedition. First thought was the trans also, but chaining the fluid did nothing for me. Then put all new (cheap) coil packs on and the problem went away for awhile. Ended up going with OEM coil packs and its been running fine for the last year.

If you have a misfire and can get it to happen long enough, you will trip a misfire code. If not, Lubeguard makes an excellent additive for converter shuddering problems.
