The new 3.0 diesel is a beast
This dyno graph was posted up on the other forum and I am very impressed with the 3.0 diesel torque. Even though its only rated for 440 ft-lbs it blew the 470 ft-lb 3.5 out of the water and was well past its crank rating at the wheels:
The other impressive thing was the 2018 2.7 basically matches the 3.5. I love the 2.7, i think its probably the "perfect" half ton motor if you are not chasing max HP. These were all the same dyno, with 93 octane, but were on different days.

That and the 2.7 Payload package deletes most of the cool options, like the 36 gallon gas tank. That pisses me off.

Those numbers seem off some how. The 3.5 has the largest torque at 470, then the diesel at 440. How is the 5.0 less torque then the 2.7 when they are both rated the same? Something here is not adding up. Where did this chart come from? How does the diesel not have any drive line loss?

Beyond suspicious, especially given how damned slow the diesel is, and how most reviewers have commented it has "very little power in reserve for passing or accelerating up a grade".

3.0 PowerStroke
i went from a 5.0 to the 3.0 diesel and it is the smoothest running F150’s I have had. Had a 3.5 echo, 5.0 8 and now the diesel.
From a power standpoint the 3.5 would push me back in the seat, after it spoiled up. It was loud and I didn’t like the noise and jerky action when the turbo came up, I did not like the 5.0 and would never do that again. It was sluggish, constantly downshifted and lacked towing ability.
The 3.0 is The smoothest of all three with deliberate smooth acceleration. It is very quiet and all you hear is wind/road noise. It is also the most expensive truck I have ever owned.
After looking at a F250 Powerstroke I felt the F150 PS would do what I needed. Only time will tell but so far I am happy with my choice.
