need help on my 98 4.2
i bought this truck for a couple hundred bucks and when i bought it , you would start it and then stall if u didnt keep your foot on the gas . figured it was an easy fix but now i am gettin frustrated. i found the egr tude was rusted off the manifold, replaced both pieces. found the pcv valve had a leak replaced that. now i just replaced the plugs wit autolite platiums. ok now the truck is sitting at a idle it runs ruff, when u hit the gas it straightens right out. when i put it in gear and hit the gas it sputters and there is no power, back fires , runs like complete crap. i dont get it if anyone has any help u can provide i would appreciate it. thanks brian

Try checking the throttle body for excessive carbon buildup, this can cause bad idle quality but not interfere with pt or wot running. If it is dirty use ONLY AIR INTAKE CLEANER as carb cleaner will remove thr protective coating and stop up the air ports...

Get the codes checked.I got a crown vic and had a misfire code after i replaced the plug and thecoil pack i found out it was becouse of the plastic manifold cracking.I was always told motorcraft plugs in fords only.
