Maybe a shift solenoid or a broken accumulator spring in the trans. How does it act down shifting?

I think we need more information to be able to help you diagnose your problem.
1) Automatic or Manual transmission.
2) What RPMs does the rock'in start and end.
3) What was the last thing you did to the truck before these symptoms arose.
4) Is the check engine light illuminated and has the codes been scanned.

Your bucking may be caused by a vaccum leak, timing, interuption of fuel, etc. Just about anything you can think of that can cause a engine miss could be your culprit. With a lil' more infomation I think we could be on our way to getting you issue resolved.

I recently had a similar issue with my '01 F150. My truck would spit and sputter between the range of 1500-2000 rpms. What I found was that the vacuum quick disconnects on the EVAP TEST Port located on the firewall by the master cylinder were leaking by. there is a rubber seal that hardens under the heat of the engine and allows leak-by. I simply removed the quick disconnects and pushed the vacuum hose directly to the Test Port and secured ithem with small hose clamps.

I actually found this fix by accident after replacing the vaccuum hose from the intake to the EVAP test port. My problem went away only to return shortly there after.

Check this out on your engine. IT'S FREE!!
