Mercon V verus other fluids. Which works best for the M5OD
Weird that there is no "Transmission" forum. Oh well.
There was a decent conversation in somebody else's thread about Mercon V and the Mazda M5OD transmission, used in a bunch of different F150 models. There seems to be a problem with some of them where they become almost impossible to get in to gear with the engine running. The problem seems to be tied to the fluid used.
In my case Valvoline Mercon V had the problem, and Pennzoil Synchromesh solved the problem.
If anyone has had this problem and would share what they think caused it and how they fixed it that would be useful to anyone who gets the problem in the future. Just making a thread for that purpose alone.
Here's a link to that other thread - https://www.f150forum.com/f89/5-spee...on-oil-426590/
Here's a short list of many of the different brands of "Mercon V". Not really clear what Mercon V even means.
