I have been watching the Horsepower shows in Spike and Speed channels for many years. The one thing I see is you hardly ever see a true dual exhaust installed. Most of the time they install the so call "X" cross over exhaust systems. There are a couple of issues you have to consider with a true dual. One issue is you loose the cross scavaging you get when all of the exhaust pulses are moving down a common tube. Each pulse moving down the exhaust system pulls the ones behind it along which helps pull the exhaust gases out of the cylinders. This is what the "X" cross systems are tuned up to do. The ones installed, mostly on 4.6L V8's are good for about 15 extra horsepower. Another issue which is not thought off is the rust. This not as much an issue as once was with stainless steel but a true dual system does not heat up as fast as any of the common tube systems the faster they heat up the faster all of the condensation is cooked out of the muffler(s) making the whole sytem last longer. If it sounds like I am not a big fan of dual exhaust systems you are correct. I come down on the side of performance, and a true dual isn't often the best choice for this.

i have 4.6, 2001 love it, i had a 50 seris flomaster bad horrible, get a 3 ft glass pack and go dual from there, little power added but its blows straight through, and helps with gas and sounds great

How is your state as far as emissions inspections? Some are a 'wink and a nod', others hook you up to a sniffer. May be a consideration in your choice.

I ran true duals. It added 19 peak Hp and at 5200 it added 30 hp. I have 2 mufflers and its VERY LOUD! I have the Dyno sheets to back it up.
