high idle....
ive been doing maintinance on my truck...changed trans oil and filter, engine oil and filter, cleaned MAF and IAC, cleaned what ever other sensor is on air tunnel, ....too help with idle surge during shift i added IAC restrictor gasket,...now since i have done these things my truck idles very high when in gear. if its in park it idles round 650,,,when stopped at light it sits at 900 or so and when placed in park before shutoff it jumps up too 1300+ then back down to normal...why is this? what could be causing it? pretty sure everything got put back exactly like it was. how can i go about finding vac leak?
Guess I missed what year and engine! Most reports of irratic idle that I read is the IAC. What is the function of the restrictor plate? Not liking to hear about that, am not a modding guy nor a guru with the PCM's. To locate vacuum leaks is naturally getting harder due to design and accessablilty. While at idle, spray all gasket joints between the intake and the heads, I use Berrymans B-12. You will hear an increase in RPM if the spray gets sucked into the intake. (a leak). Try not doing the parts changing routine, use research and your brain, and continue asking questions. Provide us the knowledge of what you are driving and someone will help out. 4 posts in as many hours leads me to believe you are as nervous as me. Good luck and let us know whats happening. Just not an hourly report.
yeah i was really wanting too get it fixed quick before it messed something up. as for truck its 02 4x4 5.4. the restrictor helps with idle drag in between down shifting....it didnt start till i put that on ,and cleaned IAC, and removed and cleaned TPS so i dont know whick it was?
anyone ?..ok i removed tps again and started truck without it..it ran fine idles great and everything.. when i try to reinstall it.. it starts messing up again, then i noticed that to install it i had to ingage the sensor slightly to line it up with butterfly arm/flap so is it my tps or is butterfly arm in wrong location?
