Default HELP! What is this I found in my transmission pan????

Disregard, my question has been answered.
----------------------------------------------------
Today, I was servicing the transmission on my church's 2011 E350 van with a 4R75E transmission.

I found this in the pan, and have no idea what it is, or where it should go.

Sorry, cellphone camera sucks.

Congratulations, you're the first person to remove the transmission pan. Here's what that is; Ford uses it to plug the dipstick hole in the tranny before the dipstick gets installed. When the dipstick tube is installed, it falls on the bottom of the transmission pan. They all have one if the pan has never been off. Not to worry.

Thank you gentlemen. I posted this in no less than four different Ford related forums. I was scared the transmission might be damaged if I tried to move it. I feel a lot better now.

Not necessarily accurate. could have been opened up by someone that had no idea how they screwed up the trans doing a service as a newb mechanic, freaked out and tossed it back in hoping it still works.

Ask me how I know.

It was the Hallelujah Chorus, expressing my joy that nothing was wrong.

True. But we bought it was from a Enterprise Rental, they sell them right about 36,000 miles. The van had 38,000 on it when I serviced it. And judging by the color of the fluid, it's never been changed.

I ended up swimming in Mercon-LV. I was not happy. But I solved that as the pan now has a drain plug.
